ZOE
Hi Zoe, this is what your personal web page will look like! I will have the date of the most recent lesson as a header with any videos or notes that I want to send you below.
Sight Reading
November 17
Lost Girls! Here’s a link to the youtube video in case I don’t get a video out on time in the future.
October 27
Here’s the Lost Girls as we have it so far. If you’d like it slower, just let me know :)
Pay attention to the bowing that I use - it’s easier if you watch the direction my bow hand is bowing instead of the actual bow.
Also, here is your tonalization written out on sheet music, as well as a video of it. Please try to learn it from the sheet music before watching the video. Don’t worry about tuning to other strings at this point - let’s get you comfortable with double stops first. Just play to the G drone.
OCtober 20
The Lost Girls as far as we went this week!
October 13
I have re-linked the B natural minor scale for you to play along with. Here is also a drone for you to play the scale along with, and the lost girls chorus as far as we have worked on it in lessons.
September 22
Here’s the video of the bowing for Lost Girls. I watched the video and studied how Lindsey plays the song, and decided to change the bowing to match what she does (I think her version is better - makes sense seeing as she wrote the piece :) ).
September 15
Sorry for the delay in getting these videos up! I have a video for the B natural minor scale, and a video of the verse of Lost Girls slowed down. You can also slow down the YouTube video somehow by going to the settings icon in the bottom right of the video screen. Happy practising! As always, let me know if you have any questions. :)
September 1
Here’s the sheet music for Lightly Row. Sorry for the delay!
August 4
Hi Zoe! I have sheet music and a slow video and a normal speed video of Beautiful skies for you, as well as a video of the rhythms I gave you to play with your A Major scale. Let me know if you have any questions about anything. The document with your sight reading is linked above. Happy Practising!
July 28
Here’s the video for the A Major scale. I wrote some notes in the description of the video, so be sure to take a look at that.
Just a couple of technique reminders:
Bow Hand:
Curve your pinkie and thumb, and have your middle and ring fingers come over the white dot on the frog of the bow. See the pictures below for a reference :)
Violin Posture:
your posture was really good in the lesson! Just remember to keep your wrist straight, and your thumb in the curve of the neck of the violin where I showed you. Here are a couple of photos:
Here are a couple of songs that we could possibly work on along with some pieces from the Suzuki book. Let me know what you think of them. If you have any ideas for songs that you would like to work on, or work towards playing, please let me know!
Blue Skies - it’s a fiddle tune, but it’s quite pretty and lyrical. Click on the highlighted text to see the video.
Amazing Grace - you probably know of this one. I think that both of these will be easy for you to get through quite quickly.
