Hey Adam, here’s a video of the theme we worked on for The Good, The Bad, The Ugly. I also have a video for you to play along to for the chopping rhythm you learned a couple of weeks ago. One last thing: this video walks you through the tonalization we were working on. Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great week!

June 11/20 Lesson

Here are some resources for Minuet #3! I have one on the open-string preview that we did, and one that has the fingerings for the first line.

May 28 Lesson

I have two videos for you concerning the Allegro harmony. the first one is just the 3rd line a little slower than normal, and the second one is the same thing, but with a better view of the fingers.

I also have a video about the bowing in that one section in Minuet #2 that you were having trouble with, as well as a preview for Minuet #3. It will get you ready for the first bar of the piece, which can be a tricky spot. Both videos go a bit slightly fast, so if you’re having trouble, I can send slower ones. Happy Practising!

May 14 Lesson

Here’s two videos for the harmony for Allegro: The harmony by itself, and a video that shows what it sounds like with the melody.

May 7/20 lesson

Hey Adam, here’s your chopping video, and those sections to work on for Minuet #2. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy Practising!

May 1/20 Lesson

Here’s the chopping video, and a video to reference for the E Major scale.

Feb 20/20 Lesson

I have two videos for you this week:

1) The chords to your fiddle tune, with chopping

2) A reference video for you to look at if you’re having trouble with your chopping.

I got the soundbyte of your Minuet No.1. It sounds quite good! I really like that you are taking your time to hit all of the notes and are not rushing the piece.

Try to work on starting the piece without walking up to the first note. Instead, get your fingers ready silently, and then start playing. I think you forgot to add a circle bow when you finish the first part and go into the second part, but I could be wrong as I don’t have the music in front of me. Over all, your tuning was really good, but watch out for that sneaky 2nd finger that you play in the very beginning of the second half - it was slightly flat :). You did a great job on the piece, but your last note was a bit short (and maybe slightly sharp as well). I think you could have held it a bit longer to give the piece a nice finish. The last note is the one that people remember the most, so try to finish strong! Other than that, keep up the great work!

Feb 13/20 Lesson

Hey Adam! I have a video that shows you the chords for the fiddle tune. If you would prefer a video that goes through the material a bit slower, just let me know!

You mentioned in the lesson that you would like a way for you to send videos of your playing to me throughout the week. Why don’t you get your mom to send the video to my mom (my phone won’t receive videos from non-apple products), and I can take a look and respond? If that doesn’t work, we can figure something else out.

January 310/20 Lesson

Hey Adam! This is the video of the melody for your fiddle tune. It’s called “Rubber Dolly”. I also have a video for the harmony that you learned.

January 9/20 Lesson

Here’s a couple of videos for the fiddle tune you’re learning called Geese in the Bog. I have a video of it that’s full speed, then for the first and second parts. I would like you to try your best to learn it by ear, but I will also supply sheet music as soon as I can get it. The way I learn things by ear is I start the video, listen to the first couple of notes, then try to repeat them and memorize them. Then, I add a couple of more notes, and so on.

Nov 14/19 Lesson

Hope you didn’t miss your lesson too much this week! ;)

I have finally uploaded the chopping track for Cluck Old Hen. If you want one that’s a bit slower, just let me know! Also, I have a quick video for you of the chopping pattern that we worked on in the lesson.

Here is a good example of the non-chopping bow hold! Notice the your thumb is curved and the bow is standing straight up. Use this bow hold while playing, not your chopping bow hold :).

Mozart Money!!!

The time for Mozart money has come!! Here are the rules for Mozart money:

  • every day that you practice, you get one Mozart dollar. If you practice for 7 days in a row, you get 10 Mozart dollars in total.

  • If you graduate a piece, you get one Mozart dollar.

  • Every week, you must fill out the Mozart Money Chart for each time you practice. Your mother’s initials must be beside every week you practice so that you can collect your money.

  • Save up your money until Christmas time. Then you can get a prize based on how much money you save up!

Download the Mozart Money Tracker, print it off, and get started! Happy Practising!
